In a truck, pallets are often placed on top of each other to make use of the vehicle's full height. A pallet is stackable when another pallet can be placed on top of it safely.
When is a pallet stackable?
- It has a flat, stable top surface.
- It can bear the weight of another pallet on top without the contents being damaged.
When is it not stackable?
- The top isn't flat, for example because of an irregular shape or items sticking out.
- The contents are fragile or can't take weight on top.
- The load is pyramid-shaped or unstable.
Why does a non-stackable pallet cost more?
Because nothing can be placed on top of it, the space above the pallet stays empty. That's why it's charged as if it takes up the vehicle's full height, and an extra charge applies.
Declare it when booking
Pallet prices are calculated for stackable pallets. If your pallet isn't stackable, select this in the booking form. If it isn't declared and the courier notices at pickup, the extra charge will be billed to you later.
How to make it stackable
Where possible, create a flat top, for example with a sheet of cardboard or a board, and secure the load tightly with stretch film or straps so it doesn't move.
