Question 1

How much does it cost to send a parcel abroad?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the destination country, the weight (actual or volumetric, whichever is higher), the dimensions and the service you choose. On City Sender you enter the country, weight and dimensions once and within seconds see prices and estimated delivery times from DHL, UPS, FedEx, ELTA Courier and others, side by side.

Question 2

Is it cheaper than booking directly with DHL, FedEx or UPS?

Accepted Answer

Yes. On City Sender, prices are up to 60% lower than booking the same service directly with the courier. You see the available services for your destination side by side, with the price in front of you before you book, without searching each courier's site separately.

Question 3

How can it be cheaper? Is it the same service?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it's the same service. Your parcel is collected, carried and delivered by the courier you chose, with its own tracking number. City Sender brings together a large volume of shipments and has agreements with couriers that aren't available for one-off bookings, and that saving goes into the price you see.

Question 4

Does the price include duties and taxes?

Accepted Answer

No. The price you see is the shipping cost, for the weight and dimensions you declare. Within the EU there are no customs duties or import VAT. For countries outside the EU, import duties, taxes or fees may apply under the destination country's rules, and they are normally paid by the recipient.

Question 5

What documents do I need to ship outside the EU?

Accepted Answer

For countries outside the EU, such as the USA, the United Kingdom, Switzerland or Australia, the shipment goes through a customs check and usually needs a commercial invoice with a clear description and value of the contents. We help you prepare them correctly, because missing or incorrect documents can delay your parcel at customs.

Question 6

How long does a shipment abroad take?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the country and the service. City Sender's comparison shows the estimated delivery time of each service before you book, so you can choose between an express and an economy option. For countries outside the EU, the customs check can add time, which is why correct documents matter.

Question 7

Which countries can I send a parcel to?

Accepted Answer

More than 200 countries. The most common destinations are Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Cyprus and the USA. You can also book a shipment from abroad to Greece: choose the origin and destination countries in the form and see the available services.

Question 8

What happens if my parcel is lost, damaged or held at customs?

Accepted Answer

You're not left dealing with the courier on your own. You talk to a real person on the City Sender team, who replies within 20 minutes during business hours, and we coordinate the case with the courier until it is resolved. If the parcel is held at customs, we tell you what is being asked for and how to provide it.

Question 9

Will the courier collect the parcel from me?

Accepted Answer

Yes, with most services. You enter the collection address when you book (home, office or shop) and the courier comes to pick up the parcel, so you don't need to visit a shop. Availability depends on the area and the service you choose.

Question 10

Do I need to create an account?

Accepted Answer

No. You can compare and book without signing up. With an account you get 2% of every shipment back in CityPoints, credit for your next shipments, plus all your shipments, addresses and history in one dashboard.
