Question 1

Is it cheaper to ship with DHL through City Sender?

Accepted Answer

Yes. On City Sender, prices are up to 60% lower than booking the same service directly with the courier. Enter the country, weight and dimensions and you see the DHL Express price next to other available services, before you book.

Question 2

Is it the same service as booking directly with DHL?

Accepted Answer

Yes. City Sender is an Authorized DHL Reseller. Your parcel is collected, carried and delivered by DHL Express, with its own DHL tracking number. The difference is that you book online without a DHL account, pay less and get human support from our team.

Question 3

How much does it cost to send a parcel with DHL?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the destination country and the weight, actual or volumetric, whichever is higher. Volumetric weight is usually length × width × height in centimetres divided by 5,000. On City Sender you see the DHL Express price for your parcel within seconds, before you book.

Question 4

Do I need a DHL account or contract?

Accepted Answer

No. You can book DHL Express on City Sender without a DHL contract or business account, even without signing up. If you ship often, a City Sender account gives you 2% back in CityPoints on every shipment and your full history in one dashboard.

Question 5

How fast is DHL Express?

Accepted Answer

DHL Express is one of the fastest international services. The exact time depends on the destination and the service, and you see it in the comparison before you book. For countries outside the EU, the customs check can add time, which is why correct documents matter.

Question 6

Does the price include duties and taxes?

Accepted Answer

No. The price is the shipping cost, for the weight and dimensions you declare. Within the EU there are no customs duties or import VAT. For countries outside the EU, import duties, taxes or fees may apply under the destination country's rules, and they are normally paid by the recipient.

Question 7

What documents do I need to ship with DHL outside the EU?

Accepted Answer

To ship goods outside the EU you usually need a commercial invoice with a clear description, quantity and value of the contents. Plain documents usually need less. We help you prepare everything correctly, because missing details can delay your parcel at customs.

Question 8

What can't I send with DHL?

Accepted Answer

DHL does not accept dangerous goods without a special process, such as flammable liquids or certain lithium batteries, or items prohibited by the destination country. Rules vary by country and product. If you're unsure about something, ask us before you book and we'll tell you whether it can be sent.

Question 9

How do I track a DHL shipment?

Accepted Answer

When you book, you get the DHL tracking number. With it you can follow your parcel at every step, from collection to delivery. With a City Sender account you also see all your shipments in one place.

Question 10

What happens if my parcel is delayed, lost or held at customs?

Accepted Answer

You're not left dealing with DHL on your own. You talk to a real person on the City Sender team, who replies within 20 minutes during business hours, and we coordinate the case with DHL until it is resolved. If your parcel is held at customs, we tell you what is being asked for and how to provide it.
